The NY Stars 16UAA team took upstate NY by storm the weekend of February 9th-11th. First stop on 2/9 was at the Farm Rink in Vestal, NY which is more appropriately referred to as the rink of dreams. It is an outdoor rink on the sprawling grounds of a farm complete with a tractor ride from the dressing room to the rink and a fire pit and heaters to warm the parents as they watch from the grandstand. The players, coaches and adults had an absolute blast and everyone was left in complete awe from the whole experience. The 16U team would like to thanks Christina and Larry Pierce, Amy Adams and the Southern Tier Binghamton Freeze for their hospitality and generosity while hosting.

Not to be outdone, the boys traveled a little further north to The State University of Cortland on 2/10 to tour the campus, take in a NCAA Division III hockey game vs Potsdam and to turn the tables and cheer on(razz if you will) their coach and hockey director Matt Davie, Jr and his brother 12U coach Mike Davie in their SUNY Cortland NCAAA Division III Alumni Game. Both games didn’t disappoint as they were decided by one goal. It was a great experience for the team to get a taste of campus life and an up close peek at DIII hockey both past and present. We would also like to thank Cortland State for their hospitality in welcoming the team for the day.
